Hello and thank you for checking out At the Coffee Table! (Let’s go with ATCT for short!)

I am Danielle and I make up one half of the current ATCT team! Here is a little bit about me. I grew up in New England but about six years ago I moved to South Florida. I went to school at FSU, not THAT FSU but Framingham State University where I majored in Communications, specifically media production and minored in English. 

I’m kind of a media nerd which is obvious, ya know with starting this blog/podcast. But it also explains my current career working in the news industry as a director and my college major. 

Anyway here those five random questions to get a little sneak peek inside the life of me!

If you could

live anywhere,

where would it be?

Most people who know me would tell you it’s Australia. 

And honestly they are probably right. I love the accent and all the beautiful landscapes. In some parts of Australia it doesn’t get super cold and snow like it does in New England so I’d probably live in those parts. I think unless I move back to New England I would stay away from places where it snows...at least to live. 

Now that I’ve been in south Florida for six plus years I think I’ve grown quite accustomed to the warm beach like living and I feel like I could get that in Australia! The only thing that would stop me from living in Australia (other than the fact the my family would be so far away) would be all the animals and bugs that could literally kill me… yikes. 

Cat or Dog?

I like to think of myself as an animal person so at the end of the day if someone handed me a cat/kitten I would be like “Welcome to your new home kitty!” 

But if I had a choice I would choose puppy/dog every damn time!

Fun fact: my parents ended up getting my sister and I a dog when were were younger because they noticed we were both a little bit afraid of dogs. So my first dog was a black lab mix named Tori Jewel. 

Then when I first started dating Shawna she had a one year old german shepherd and I absolutely fell in love with him! Unfortunately, we lost him to cancer a few years ago. 

Now we have another german shepherd that we adopted from a local animal rescue. Her name is Ellie. (or Ellie belly, Hammy ham, sassafrass, Ell bell, etc.) She is three years old now, had QUITE the personality, and has epilepsy. Yep...you read that right. I’ll save that for a whole story for a blog on its own but man oh man, the first time you see your dog having a seizure is bloody terrifying! She is on medicine now and it manages it pretty well and we love her just the same but it has been a ride.  She even has her own Instagram if you want to see what she is up too!

What are you reading right now?

Code Name Verity is one of my all time favorite books!

I have read A LOT this year and yes I will admit that a good chunk of those were Lesbian romances. (Judge if you want but... sorry not sorry!) 

Right now I’m reading “I hope You Get This Message” by Farah Naz Rishi. It’s about three teenagers dealing with the possible end of the earth by another planet. All three are trying to find both hope and closure for themselves and their families.  So far so good, it’s not necessarily something that I would have picked out on my own but every month I get a book box called OwlCrate and this was in one of the boxes this year.  

What’s something you want to do in the next year that you’ve never done before?

There are many things that I have never done that I would love to do! Get married, have babies, (that is probably still a few years out ) write a book, travel to all sorts of places, I mean I could go on and on about it. 

Something that I would really like to do this year that I have never done before is too really get this blog going! This is something that I have always wanted to do and have never really sat down and committed to get it going. I’m hoping this year, with Nelson as my co-blogger/podcaster that we will really get it off the ground and going! 

I also really want to skydive and I MAY be doing that sooner rather than later this year!

What shows are you into?

As I said at the start, I am somewhat of a media nerd. So I have always really loved tv shows. Combine media nerd with slightly obsessive personality and there are several shows throughout the years that I have really, really...really been into. Growing up it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. 

Then for a while it was Grey’s Anatomy and although that is still on I have fallen away from it. 

My number one show right now is the little CW show that could and it is called “The 100.” If you’ve never heard of the show it’s a post apocalyptic sci-fi type show and it’s going on it’s seventh and final season. Which makes me sad even though throughout the seasons I have had somewhat of a love-hate relationship towards it. 

Well I suppose that it that. Just a little insight on Danielle. I’m extremely excited to see this out and figure out our flow for things. Nelson and I have some great ideas for both the blog aspect and the podcast to go along with it!
